Make your own 100% Natural Body Wash!

Hey Stars!

Whether you may know it or not, chemicals that are harmful to our bodies are everywhere! Not only does the air, our surroundings, and the foods that we put into our bodies cause free radicals to enter our body directly – so does the many skin products that we use on a daily basis.

Have you ever looked at the ingredients label on your face wash? body wash? shave cream? lotion? hand soap? deodorant? body spray or colognes/perfumes? toothpaste? body creams? and more?
Chances are there will be many manmade (in a lab) ingredients that are much too complex to even pronounce! Many of us put these chemicals directly on our skin daily. Imagine the effects of long term use!
These chemicals can be harsh on our skin and even cause your skin to age faster.
Read this article for more details:
Let’s face it, we can’t stop using body products altogether. Everyone loves to have soft skin and smell great.
Because of recent health conscious trends, there are some natural skin care lines available, although they may be pricey. Luckily, there’s always the option of making 100% natural skin care at home & it’s much easier than you think!
Here is a simple DIY recipe for Shea Butter Body Wash:
1 part Raw Shea Butter
1 part Castile Soap
Essential oil of your choice
1) Melt the shea butter, preferably on the stove on low heat.
2) Add the soap and a few drops of the essential oil of your choice )to add an aromatherapy element).
3) Stir ingredients thoroughly.
4) Transfer to the container of your choice and enjoy!
That’s it!

Planning to lose weight this year?

Good Day Stars!!

As I revealed in my last post, a big goal of mine this year is to lose weight (around 20-30lbs specifically). My Current weight is 194lbs and a healthy weight for my height and body type (pear shaped “athletic”) is 155-165lbs.

Healthy weight loss is no more 2lbs a week, but I personally believe .5-1lb a week is ideal. Losing weight quickly can be tough on the body and most importantly: nearly impossible to maintain long term. For this reason, I plan to lose my extra weight over a 6-9month period.

Quick fixes often lead to more issues long term.

With that said, I want to share with you all a tool that I am using to help me stay on track for the entire year. This tool is very important to me, and can be for you as well. The chart that I created can be downloaded here: annual-fit-tracker-pdf

As seen in the picture above, this chart is visible in a place that I visit every single day: my work space. I challenge you to download and print the chart to track your progress this year. It is scientifically PROVEN, that getting goals on paper and documenting progress increases your chance of success plus it keeps you motivated along the way.

As a gift to you, I am willing to mail you this chart along with goal setting worksheets to anyone for FREE. Yes, free. Just click the contact tab above and ask me. I’m a small blogger so I’m able to do this now but realistically this will not be available in the future for FREE buttttt for you guys it is ;).

Until Next Time……. Keep Glowing!

Very Truly Yours,

Tiny Steps

Hi Stars!!

It feels like it has been forever since my last blog post! Don’t worry; since I’ve been Gone I’ve been working on some really good content for you all and I’m so excited about it!!

Happy New Year!

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions? If so, I’d love to hear about them in the comments section.

All goals (small or large) are accomplished in increments. If you decided that you will spend less on clothes or fast food, every time you deny the urge to splurge – you are taking a tiny step towards your goal. Maybe you decided that you will stick to a regular workout routine, your first step may be to decide on the type of workout and write it down on your calendar.

One of my personal goals is to lose the newlywed wait that I recently gained (yes, it’s a real thing! lol). Everyday, I will take tiny steps that will lead me to that goal. Walking away from snacks & candy are one of those tiny steps that will make the biggest difference in my progress. While managing your weight, calories matter! By conquering the urge to grab candy/snacks for no reason, I can lose an extra pound or more per month. Is it easy for you to resist junk food?

I challenge you to (literally) give yourself a pat on your back every time you take a tiny step towards your goal.

Until Next Time… Keep Glowing!

3 Ways to Stay Balanced During the Holidays…

Hi Stars!
Hope all is well with you and yours! Here are 3 ways to stay balanced during the Holiday Season, Enjoy!

1. Keep It Simple.
No matter where you faith lies, the Holiday season is about spreading joy and spending time with loved ones. Don’t feel pressured to spend every dime you have for the latest gadgets and gift – the person will love you anyways. Now, it’s very cool to make your house look like a Winter Wonderland as long as you can comfortably afford it ;).

2. Give Yourself Permission….
Yes, Hover boards & drones look fun, and so does everything on every commercial this time of year. Give yourself permission to say no to temporary desires and to others that may be requesting too much from you.

3. Be Mindful.
There will be Holidays treats and desserts everywhere & you can enjoy them in moderation. Remember that taste is temporary and that body fat takes hard work to get rid of! Finally, If this time of year reminds you of a personal loss be mindful to practice self-care, breathe deeply, and allow yourself to grieve + smile.

Sending Joy and Good Energy your Way!

Hello Stars!

I hope you all had an amazingly wonderful weekend! I sure did ♥

I spent about 90% of my weekend at home drinking tea, cuddling with my dog and drafting content for my YouTube channel (Subscribe here ). This weekend was very refreshing for my soul and my inner self is ready to conquer new challenges this week.  I want you all to experience this as well because I want you to be successful.

In this post I want to share with you all the purpose/benefits of aromatherapy.

What is Aromatherapy?

Simply put: The therapeutic use of essential oils from plants; using your sense of smell to promote a sense of well-being.

The primary benefit of aromatherapy is relieving or reducing anxiety and depression. It can also boost your energy and cognitive performance, induce sleep, increase circulation, improve digestion and ease pain/headaches. It works by stimulating smell receptors, which send messages to the part of the brain that controls your emotions.

That’s it.

There is no special training or routine needed to experience the benefits of aromatherapy and anyone can try it. Have you ever cleaned with pine sol or another cleaner, left the room/home and the aroma when you re-entered that room made you so happy?? This is not exactly aromatherapy but very close to it. True aromatherapy involves only oils that are extracted from nature (plants/fruits), while most cleaners contain chemicals and artificial scents.

I personally use aromatherapy in my home when setting a certain mood and I keep an oil diffuser in my work area. Different oils have different functions:

2 Keys to Weight Management

Hello Stars!

In Monday’s post about the benefits of walking, I mentioned that there are 2 main keys to weight management. The first key is to get moving and the second is to eat to live.

Eat to live, instead of living to eat.

This is a mantra that you will hear/see me repeat very often. Why? Because the root of most all weight gain is eating for enjoyment instead of for function. Yes, a pepperoni pizza or cheeseburger with fresh fries would be very enjoyable to eat – especially after a long day or while out at a restaurant with friends or family. Don’t forget a cold soda or alcoholic beverage (and dessert) to go with it! This sounds very tempting, doesn’t it? The problem with that is this:

A cheeseburger & fries doesn’t have much nutritional or functional value for your body. Which is why you won’t feel revived and full of energy after you eat one, you will most likely feel tired and experience slight brain fog (some call this a food high, the “itis” or a food coma).

Eating for enjoyment leads to weight gain over time. When you are eating donuts, cookies, or even birthday cake = it’s for enjoyment (it’s certainly not for your health). The average American gains at least 5+ pounds during the holiday season just from “enjoying” Holiday foods. I challenge you to think before you eat. Ask yourself “Am I eating for enjoyment?” or “Am I eating to live (well)?”

Food = fuel for your body. Are you using good fuel or toxic fuel?

Let’s Take a Walk!

Hello Stars!!!

As a personal trainer and wellness coach, I get asked a lot of questions about weight loss. I absolutely love these questions because I have experience as a weight loss counselor and I was not exactly born “skinny.” I can eat off track for 2 days and feel like I’ve gained 5 pounds.

The concept that I teach my clients is to focus on weight management or maintenance – no person is free from both. Age, lazy days and desserts can become an issue for all of us. This is why I do not push or advise programs that advertise these grandiose results in 30 days or less – they are simply selling to you.

There are only 2 main things to keep in mind when it comes to weight management, the first is to get moving and the second will be discussed in an upcoming post.

I am not urging you to sign up for the nearest gym, buy $60 athletic leggings, and workout every day until you feel comfortable with your body. What if I told you that you could lose weight by doing only one exercise that anyone can do? Well…..

Take a Walk.

Yes, take a walk. Take a few walks. Put on some comfortable shoes and walk around your block or to the bank/store. Just walk, and then walk some more (hopefully in 20 minute increments or more). Talking to a friend while walking is one of the easiest ways to walk without even realizing how far you have gone. Have a Fitbit or pedometer? Work towards those 10,000 steps.

According to, regular brisk walking can help you:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
  • Strengthen your bones and muscles
  • Improve your mood

While walking remember to practice good posture, keep your abs slightly tightened and walk rolling your foot from heel to toe. Viola!

How many steps in the right direction will you take today?

Time to Flex for Fit Friday!!!

Hello Stars!!

As a lover of Yoga and advocate for TOTAL health & wellness, today’s post is about flexibility.

Flexibility is often the forgotten component of physical fitness.

MYTH: Flexibility is not important unless I am a gymnast or yoga enthusiast.

Fact: There are five main components of physical fitness that are all equally important.

Flex Facts:
“Better flexibility may improve your performance in physical activities or decrease your risk of injuries by helping your joints move through their full range of motion and enabling your muscles to work most effectively. Stretching also increases blood flow to the muscle”. – also notes that flexibility can decrease back pain, improve posture, decrease stress and improve oxygen circulation in the body.

This is why flexibility is a big part of my fitness routine and also a main component of Soulance Sessions.

How often do you flex?!
